How to clean the induction hob?

An induction hob is a solution that more and more people are opting for. First of all, it is safe because it uses electricity and not gas. In addition, it is more difficult to get burned and food cooks faster. On the plus side is also a modern, minimalist design, which fits into current trends in kitchen design. Induction hobs are made of special glass or ceramic, which makes stains very visible. Fortunately, cleaning the hob is not difficult and its flat form and lack of nooks and crannies make things easier. In this article you will learn how to effectively wash off stains from the induction hob and keep it clean.

Use specialized detergents

Special formulations for cleaning induction cooktops are available in cleaning stores. They have carefully selected ingredients that clean all types of dirt. It is best to buy a spray, cream or milk. Then we can be sure that the abrasive agents contained in them will not damage the surface of the plate. We use them, applying on a soft cloth, and after cleaning we additionally wipe the plate with a paper towel. This ensures that no toxic particles remain on the plate, and at the same time we polish it.

Do not use caustic cleaners with chlorine or flammable substances. The surface of the plate is delicate, so it could be damaged. The same applies to wire sponges, brushes and other accessories that scratch the surface – we use only soft cloths. An interesting tip is to wash out non-invasive stains on a regular basis with window cleaning fluid. After the plate has cooled down, but before the stains dry, we spray it with such liquid and wipe it with a cloth. You should also remember that the hob should always be switched off during cleaning!

Regularity is essential!

It is best to clean stains on a regular basis. If we do not allow the stains to dry and build up, it will be easier to wash them off. That is why, it is recommended to wipe off the stains as soon as they appear. In such cases, a cloth soaked in water is sufficient. The less substances will be in contact with the surface of the plate, the longer it will serve us. Of course, the hob has to be switched off. Washing stains on a hot plate is pointless because the agents used may additionally stick to the surface.

What about melted plastic on an induction hob?

Anyone can forget and put a plastic dish on the induction plate. If the plastic melts and sticks to the hob the only hope in such situation is a scraper for induction hobs. Turn off the hob immediately and remove all cookware from the hob. Protecting your hands with kitchen gloves, we should quickly scrape off the plastic. Wash off any remaining dirt after the hob has cooled down. Do not cook until all the plastic has been removed – it will cause the plastic to melt again, stick to the stove and cookware, and release harmful substances into the air.

Homemade way to clean an induction cooktop

A homemade and inexpensive way to clean an induction cooktop is to use baking soda and vinegar. To clean the hob, do not mix these ingredients, as the foam formed in the reaction will not effectively remove the dirt. To successfully remove stains, follow the steps below:

• spray the plate with vinegar, wait a moment and wipe with a damp cloth;
• sprinkle baking soda over the entire surface of the plate, place a wet towel or cloth on it and leave for about 15 minutes;
• the next step is to polish the surface of the plate with a towel and baking soda. If the dirt does not come off right away, repeat the process;
• finally, we once again spray the surface of the plate with vinegar and polish with a cloth until the desired shine is achieved.

This way is time-consuming, but saves money and by the way we use ecological, environmentally friendly ingredients that are not harmful to humans.
