There is always something to do in a house or even an apartment. Like not a leaking faucet, a broken contact or a creaking door. Especially the latter fault can be highly annoying on a daily basis. Therefore, it is worth dealing with it right away and repairing loose door hinges or unlubricated parts as soon as possible. As a rule, this is the reason for their creaking. But let’s find out how to solve it effectively and, above all, on your own!

Domestic fault that spends sleep – creaking doors

There are sounds that, in principle, for most people will be extremely annoying. They certainly include creaking doors. Regardless of the time of day or night, this hated sound can make our mood worsen. Therefore, it is worth getting down to fixing them right away.

If objects behave in an unusual way, this usually heralds a malfunction. In the case of doors, the problem usually lies in abandoned or un-oiled hinges. New items in the house, as a rule, work flawlessly, because during their installation they are perfectly tightened and, of course, lubricated with special grease. After some time, this lubricant dries out and that’s when the problems begin.

Whether it concerns the front door or the one in the room, when the hinges are not oiled, they begin to creak. You may also find that the door leaf lowers under use. Then they can also creak or even scrape and damage the floor. How to deal with this? Here are our proven ways!

How to effectively repair a door at home?

Even for people who are unfamiliar with minor repairs, using our ways to fix a squeaky door will not cause difficulties.

First of all, you need to diagnose the problem. If you see that the door has lowered and is scratching the floor, and on top of that it will cause considerable difficulty when opening and closing, you should take the help of another person and turn up the hinges. First, of course, set them at the right height, and then tighten them firmly.

However, remember not to do it too tightly, so that they can be used comfortably and smoothly. If, on the other hand, the issue is the lack of proper oiling, choose a specific preparation. There are liquid and spray versions to choose from. Each of them is equally effective, you just need to choose a more convenient option for you. It is worth that the container also has a special dispenser, so that you can precisely apply the lubricant. Interestingly, quite a few people also use home remedies, such as vegetable oil or olive oil. These specifics give results, but they are short-lived. Therefore, it is worth investing in professional preparations that last longer and, in addition, do not emit unpleasant odors. If you use oil, especially butter, the stench can set in very quickly in our house.

It is necessary to remove the door from its hinges and only lubricate it. This method is considered the most effective. However, if you are concerned that you will not be able to properly seat the door yourself, it is best to lubricate it using a special, very narrow applicator. Later, just rub the product in with a soft cloth and you’re done!

Remember that doors in furniture can also creak, in which case, after removing the items from inside, you can lubricate them in exactly the same way. However, be careful not to flood the inside of the cabinet, the grease is hard to get rid of.
