Mint is an herb that has a lot of uses. You can add it to dishes prepared both sweet and salty. It helps with digestion and stomach ailments, and that’s not all!

Combined with cold tea, it is an ideal drink for hot weather, which in our country lasts up to 3 months. Iced tea was invented several centuries ago, and is extremely popular in North American countries. You can make it in several ways, and to prepare it you will need fresh or dried mint or leaf tea with herbs.

How to make iced mint tea?

Classic iced mint tea is prepared in the same way as warm tea. The only difference is that the drink must be brewed so that it retains its intensity of flavor when ice is added. If you decide to go for it, it is recommended to use flavored tea or black tea with fresh mint. The classic iced drink tastes great with the addition of lemon or lime juice.

Another way to make the drink is cold brew. This is brewing tea for a very long time at a low temperature. In this case, it takes even several hours to make a perfect drink, so you should be patient

These two teas have a different flavor. The beverage brewed at low temperatures is dominated by sweet accents, and mainly carbohydrates and amino acids are released. Classic iced tea, on the other hand, has astringent and bitter notes.

Classic iced mint tea with the addition of lemons

With this method you will make a real refreshing and invigorating bomb. Citrus juice is rich in vitamins and acts as a natural isotonic, while black tea is rich in theine, which has similar effects to caffeine. Thanks to its properties, mint effectively stimulates. The whole brings coolness even in the greatest heat.

Ingredients needed:

  • 6 black tea bags,
  • 2 cups fresh mint leaves,
  • 2 lemons,
  • ½ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice,
  • ½ cup sugar.

Method of preparation

  1. Wash the mint thoroughly and peel the lemons
  2. Boil half a cup of water in a small saucepan. Add the lemon zest and sugar to the boiling liquid. Stir until the sugar dissolves
  3. Then boil for 2 minutes. Add mint. Set the stock aside and wait for it to cool down
  4. In the meantime, prepare the infusion. Put 6 black tea bags in 4 cups of boiling water. Let the brew steep for 5 minutes
  5. Pour the black tea, lemon-mint decoction and 4 glasses of cold water into a tall decanter. Then add the lemon juice and ice cubes

Iced mint tea cold brew

Cold brew requires patience. It is an extremely simple brew to prepare, but it does take a little more time.

Ingredients needed

  • 50 g earl grey or green tea,
  • 2 tbsp dried mint,
  • optional: 2 tbsp brown sugar,
  • a few slices of lemon.

Method of preparation:

  1. Put 50 g of tea of your choice, dried mint and brown sugar into a jar or bottle
  2. Pour 2 liters of cold, filtered water over the whole mixture
  3. Put the mixture in the fridge for at least 12 hours
  4. After that time, filter the mixture through a strainer, add some lemon slices and ice cubes.
