A dirty and unsightly oven is the bane of every housewife. Cleaning it is a laborious activity because grease is very difficult to come off. How to clean the oven from burnt-on grease and make it look like new?

Modern ovens have a self-cleaning function. All you have to do is press the appropriate button to start the cleaning process. The oven heats up to 500°C, so all the grease is burned to ashes and you only need to wipe the oven with a damp cloth.

To clean the oven, the best products are professional ones used in restaurants. Agents designed for gastronomy remove dirt and grease without any problem – and they are also very safe. After cleaning the oven with such a preparation, it should be washed very carefully with lukewarm water – the remnants of the preparation must not remain in it. Oven cleaning should be done with protective gloves.

Home methods for cleaning the oven

1. Water with vinegar

Mix hot water and vinegar in the proportion of 1:1, clean the oven thoroughly with this solution and then rinse it with lukewarm water and wipe dry with a cloth.

2. Water with baking soda

Sprinkle baking soda on the burnt areas in the oven and then sprinkle the area with water to form a thick paste which should be left for several hours. After that time, sprinkle the baking soda again on the burnt area and spray it with water, leaving it overnight. In the morning, all you need to do is wipe the oven with a cloth.

3. Baking soda and water

Make a paste of water and baking soda (ratio 1:1), which must be so thick that it does not run down the walls. Stronger scorches should be rubbed with the sharper side of a dishwashing sponge. After scrubbing for a while, even burnt-on food remains should come off. Then rinse the oven with clean lukewarm water.

4. Baking soda with water and dishwashing liquid

Make a paste of water and baking soda (1:1 ratio) and add a few drops of dishwashing liquid to it. The resulting slurry should be applied to the oven walls and door. If the dirt is tougher, rub it with the sharper side of a dishwashing sponge. When the dirt comes off, rinse the oven with lukewarm water.

5. A mixture with vinegar and dishwashing liquid

To make the mixture you will need:

  • 5 tablespoons of vinegar,
  • 4 tablespoons of baking soda,
  • 5 drops of dishwashing liquid,
  • juice of half a lemon.

To the soda, dishwashing liquid and lemon juice should be poured very slowly vinegar – there is a chemical reaction and the preparation foams strongly. Then apply it to the biggest dirt and leave it for about 30 minutes

6. Liquid from borax

To make a liquid for difficult dirt you will need:

  • 3 tablespoons of borax,
  • ¼ cup of vinegar,
  • 2 cups of hot water,
  • a few drops of dishwashing liquid.

You should mix all these ingredients and then pour it into a spray bottle. Just spray the liquid on the dirty oven and leave it for about 2 hours. Then rinse with lukewarm water and the liquid.

7. Salt, soda and vinegar paste

To make this cleaning paste you will need:

  • 250 grams of baking soda,
  • ¼ cup of vinegar,
  • two tablespoons of salt.

All the ingredients should be mixed to form a paste. Then, apply the paste to the dirty areas in the oven and leave it for about 30 minutes. After this time has passed, wipe the oven with the sharper side of a dishwashing sponge.

8. Cleaning the oven with a dishwasher tablet

Dissolve the dishwasher tablet in 2 l of hot water. Pour the resulting solution into a bottle and spray the oven walls with it. Place paper towels on the wet walls. After about an hour, remove the paper towels and wipe the oven with a dry cloth
