Cooking broad beans is not a complicated task, but not everyone is sure how to properly prepare them. See how to do it.
Cooking broad beans does not take more than 15 minutes. It can be done in water, as well as steamed
Before cooking, the broad beans should be rinsed thoroughly. When buying broad beans, it is best to choose one straight from the market. Avoid plastic-wrapped broad beans, which spoil more quickly and can turn sour.
Bring water to a boil in a pot, add the rinsed vegetables and add a flat teaspoon of sugar (per 1 kg of broad beans) – this will improve the flavour of the broad beans. Note: add salt (1 teaspoon) at the end of cooking broad beans, not at the beginning as with other vegetables. In the case of young broad beans, cooking should not take more than 15 minutes, but it is best to check the hardness of the vegetables every now and then, so that they are not too soft. Old broad beans should be cooked for about half an hour. When its skin begins to wrinkle, it is a sign that it is cooked.
Cooked broad beans will taste good with a little butter and garlic. On the other hand, if you want to alleviate the bloating effect after eating broad beans, you can add some cumin to it.
