Sometimes we don’t have time to visit a hair salon or just want to save a little money. In this case, you can cut your hair yourself. However, there are a few things, which you should keep in mind to avoid getting hurt at the barbershop. We tell you how to get the best haircut at home

What do you need?

If you want to cut your own hair at home, you should have a few essential items on hand. First of all, you need scissors. The scissors need to be sharp enough for this – the ones from your school pencil case are unlikely to work. The best solution are simple hairdressing scissors, which you can buy at any drugstore. You will also need a fine toothed comb, the so-called clipper comb. If you’re cutting your hair completely alone, you’ll also need two mirrors to check the results from both the front and the back. You will also need an atomizer bottle to moisten your hair. Prepare some hair elastics and clothespins and a towel or hairdresser’s cape. Once you have all the necessary equipment, you’re ready to go.

Trimming the Hair Ends – 3 Tried-and-True Ways

Hair ends quite often get damaged and dry or ugly split ends. To keep your hair shiny and soft and to keep it looking healthy you need to trim the damaged ends every now and then. There are several ways to do this at home.

The Straight Cut

This is a method by which you cut 1-5 inches of hair. Start by wetting or shampooing your hair, as wet hair is easier to work with. Next, comb your hair thoroughly straight and gather it into a ponytail at your forehead line. The next step will be to divide your hair into two equal sections using rubber bands. Then separate one extra strand of hair from the front. Hold it between your index and middle finger and snip the hair – this strand will be your reference. Then cut the remaining strands, making sure they are all the same length. Also remember that wet hair is slightly longer than dry hair, so be careful not to cut too much. Finally, brush your hair once more and tie it into a classic ponytail. Make sure that there is no frizz and that all hair is even. Let your hair down, comb it, flip it back and make any adjustments

Cutting off damaged ends without losing length

If you want to cut off the very ends of your hair and are afraid of losing too much length, then polishing your hair is the perfect solution for you. This is a quick and easy procedure, which you can easily do at home. You will need a razor, such as the one at https://menland.pl/maszynki-do-strzyzenia, with an end-cutting tool, or scissors. Polishing is done by twisting individual strands of hair and trimming the protruding ends. This method gets rid of unsightly dry and split ends while keeping your hair long.

The rubber band cut

This method is somewhat similar to the classic straight cut. To get the ends cut with the rubber band method, you need to secure your damp hair into a low ponytail. Then use scrunchies to secure the ponytail every 4-5 inches until you are ready to cut the hair. At the last rubber band, cut off the ends. Finally, detangle your hair, comb it thoroughly, smooth and make any adjustments and enjoy the refreshed hairstyle.
