Various stains often appear on clothes. Some of them can be easily removed with a regular detergent during washing. How to deal with more severe stains? If you have rust stained clothes, you don’t have to throw them away right away. There are effective home remedies for removing rust from clothing.
Homemade ways to remove rust are cheap and eco-friendly. Before you reach for the chemicals for stain removal, try first the homemade ways of our mothers and grandmothers.
For fresh rust stain, it is best to use salt or natural acid, such as lemon juice, citric acid solution or wine vinegar. Rub the chosen product into the clothes and leave it for about an hour (preferably in the sun). After this period, wash the garment.
Rub the baking powder into the rust stain and leave it for a while. Then rinse with cold water and wash in the washing machine with detergent.
Add 2 teaspoons of ammonia to a glass of water and then heat the solution up to 40°C. Soak the stain and leave it for about 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, rinse it in warm water with ammonia.
Add 10% oxalic acid to warm water (3 drops per 1l of water) and rinse the stained clothes in this solution. Then rinse the garment in cool, clean water and wash it.
