Painting nails with hybrid polish is a very popular way to have an aesthetic and durable manicure. To get rid of old layers on the plate, you do not have to go to a beauty salon. See how to remove a hybrid at home.

Step by step – how to strip a hybrid at home?

Hybrid polish looks very aesthetically pleasing and elegant, but after some time, when the nail grows, regrowth may appear. In addition, although this method is quite durable, in some cases there are cracks or chipping. Then it is necessary to get rid of layers of paint. Hybrid will last for 2-3 weeks, which is a really good result when compared to traditional polish. It is not always possible to go to a beautician, so we suggest how to remove hybrid at home.

File off the top coat

Removing a hybrid should start with filing the top layer of the polish. A beautician often uses a milling machine for this, but not every woman has such a device at home. An alternative to this solution is to file with a traditional file, preferably of 100/180 gradation.

Application of acetone on nails

Now it is necessary to apply acetone on the remains of the hybrid polish. This can be done in several ways. One is to soak cotton pads, then apply to the finger and wrap with aluminum foil. The other is to use special hybrid polish stripping foils, which already has an acetone soaking element. Thanks to the products available on the market, you don’t have to think about what to use to take off your hybrid at home. The acetone needs to be left on for about 10-15 minutes.

Note: If you are going to do another hybrid manicure, you don’t have to dissolve all the layers applied to your nails. It is enough that you file them with a coarse file, and then one with a smoother surface. The base coat can remain on the plate to apply new layers of polish.

Get rid of polish remnants

After a few minutes the acetone should start to dissolve the hybrid polish. Then you need to start removing the foil from your nails and scrape off the remains. You can do it with a special wooden shovel or a nail polish remover available in cosmetic stores. Start from the roots, moving to the sides.

Finally, a conditioner!

Finally, apply olive oil or conditioner to your nails, because they may not look attractive. Don’t worry – they will recover quickly if you take good care of them.

How to take off hybrid at home without acetone?

Wondering how to take off your hybrid at home without acetone? Acetone dissolves the polish well, but can cause damage to the nail plate. Particularly sensitive nails, can become flexible and soft. You should also not soak your hands in acetone! This substance should only be in contact with your nail plates, preferably for a few minutes or so, not longer.

Several other options can be used here:

  • File your nails first with a high-grade file, and then with a lower-grade file. This method, however, is quite cumbersome and can cause damage to the nail plate.
  • Using a remover – this is a specialremover for removing hybrid at home and at the salon, without acetone. You follow all the steps exactly the same way to remove hybrid yourself, but instead of acetone you use this product.
  • Hybrid with peel-off base – there are special stickers and bases for hybrid polish on the market. After 2-3 weeks, when polish starts to look less attractive, you just need to remove all layers by yourself, slightly undermining the edge of the nail, for example with a nail pick. Hybrid comes off much easier.
