Which cutlery to choose? Overview

Cutlery is an essential piece of equipment in every kitchen. They must be of high quality because you use them every day. You should choose a solid and durable set, resistant to scratches and mechanical damage. Cutlery is also a decoration of a table so it should be both functional and elegant.

What materials can cutlery be made of?

On the market we can find silver or stainless steel cutlery. Occasionally we can see accessories made of wood, bamboo or plastic. However this type of cutlery has not taken over Polish kitchens

Stainless steel

This is cutlery, which is never in short supply in stores. Most often they appear in kitchens. First of all, because they are relatively cheap and easily accessible. The choice in stores is countless – stainless steel distinguishes both smaller and larger sets. Their design is also varied

They are often simple minimalist pieces with delicate decorations or cutlery in different shapes, such as leaf-shaped cake spoons. Moreover, there is nothing to prevent this type of cutlery from being washed in the dishwasher. The stainless steel contained in kitchen items is divided into two types

• 18/10 stainless steel – contains 18% chromium and 10% nickel. It is extremely resistant to rusting. It is distinguished by high gloss. This type of cutlery is of high quality, completely food safe and scratch resistant. Not suitable for people allergic to nickel;
• 18/0 stainless steel – this steel contains 18% chromium and the rest is iron. It is less common than the one shown above. Suitable for people allergic to nickel, but less resistant to mechanical damage

Silver

If you care about beautiful tableware, silver cutlery will be perfect. It should be remembered that in stores their choice is much smaller than the one of stainless steel accessories. In addition, they cannot be washed in the dishwasher and require polishing
