If you do not have an air conditioner in your home or you are in the construction phase, plan the location and connections before the work begins. This will save costs associated with future installation as well as the time needed to prepare the site. Find out what to think about.

Type

Before you choose the right model, it’s worth knowing what are the possibilities and among what to choose. The most popular types of air conditioners are wall air conditioners or split, but you can also choose from duct air conditioners, cassette air conditioners, or under-floor air conditioners. The choice of the type of device is worth considering in terms of type, size of the room and also the function which the device will serve.

Place

Before you start any planning and selection you should think about the place of installation. First of all, it is worth knowing that one device will not be able to cool the entire apartment, let alone house. Usually, you should stick to the rule of one cooling device per one room. It is important to consider in which room or rooms you need to cool.

The layout of the room is also very important. This has to do with the arrangement of furniture or wall decorations. For each cooling unit you should plan the space on the wall of your choice (importantly the unit needs about 10 cm of space from the ceiling to adequately distribute the air). It is also important that the installed air conditioner does not blow directly on the occupants of the room.

In addition to the space inside, the place for the external unit is important. It can be placed on the wall of the building or on the ground (for example, on a balcony or terrace). You can also lead the connection of the unit to the roof, but it all depends on the possibilities that are outside the building. An important issue is in the case of installation of air conditioning in a block of flats to obtain permission from the administration to mount the device, for example, on the facade of the building. In addition, it is worth taking into account the volume of the unit, mounting the unit next to the neighbors’ windows and choose a unit in such a way as not to cause trouble.

Installation

It is very important to carefully plan the installation. The most important of them is the one responsible for the drainage of condensate, because it causes the most trouble and can potentially generate a lot of construction work. Water condenses in the air conditioner and the most important thing is to drain it. From the place of installation, 18 mm pipes should be routed, e.g. to a drain, or they can also be routed outside.

From the place of mounting the unit to the place of mounting the indoor units should be routed refrigeration pipes with a diameter of ¼” and 3/8″ for usually mounted indoor units of 2 to 3.5 kW. In terms of length, the installation length of up to 15 mb can handle all the air conditioners available on the market. Installations up to 25 mb, most, and for distances over 25 mb only premium air conditioners with efficient compressors.

Power supply

The last issue concerns the electrical power supply. Power supply for air conditioning for apartments and houses is a minimum of 3×1.5mm2. The air conditioner should be prepared for individual protection 16A for a single unit or 25A for multi systems. In the distribution box should use a fuse with the characteristics of “C”. It is also important to 1 phase voltage for air conditioning. However, the exact details should be agreed with the electrician at the stage of renovation.
